Focus 4 was honored recently to be asked to assist with a nonprofit website redesign project for Daughters of Christ Ministry, based in North Carolina. This was a joint project with Elite Coders LLC, another Harford County web development company. George Handlin of Elite Coders knew that one of his existing clients would benefit greatly by switching their old website – built on a custom designed CMS that was rather outdated – to the more modern and flexible WordPress CMS platform. But with only a little experience building WordPress sites, George was looking for someone to help him maximize his own time for other projects by taking on the bulk of the design and development of the site, which his company would then host and maintain.
Enter Focus 4, with an extensive background and lots of experience with WordPress and custom, mobile-responsive WordPress theme development for nonprofits. Our team was able to handle the project management for design, development, and content/data migration for the DoC Ministry, and construct a custom, mobile WordPress website from scratch in under 7 weeks. Website owner and DoCM President Audrie Sifuentes was looking to automate and simplify the process of updating the website, and wanted to start blogging (and needed a platform to accommodate). She also wanted site visitors to be able to more easily share the content of the website with friends and family members via social media. One of the challenges of the web site design was that the organization already had a brochure created, and wanted the website design to match or compliment that brochure’s design. Our designer Chris Mackler was able to creatively and strategically incorporate design elements from the printed brochure into a flexible website design that would accommodate all sizes of screens while maintaining a few critical design elements in flexible formats. See below the brochure itself, and then the screen shots of the new website.
